UNIVERSAL EXPO « SHANGHAI 2010 »

During the General Assembly meeting of the International Expo Bureau (IEB), held in December 2002, the city of Shanghai was selected to host the next Universal expo.

Mascot:

The Expo mascot stands for the “Ren” feature (the human being). It reflects the cultural characteristics of China and refers to the idea lying behind the design of the Shanghai 2010 Universal Expo emblem. This mascot is named HAIBAO, which means « treasures from all nooks and crannies ».


Expo area: 5,28 km²

Participating countries: 192 countries and 50 international organizations have confirmed their participation in Shanghai 2010 Universal Expo.

Number of expected visitors: 70 million
