The participation contract of Tunisia at the Shanghai 2010 universal exhibit was signed in presence of HE Sahby Basli, Tunisian ambassador to Beijing, the general commissioner of Tunisia to the Universal Expo “Shanghai 2010 and ZHOU Hanmin, Deputy Director of Expo 2010.
This event will be a good opportunity to boost trade exchanges between Tunisia and China.
The Tunisian pavilion, along with the participation and upgrading program, will reflect the orientations and choices of a nation that has always been convinced of its authenticity, proud of its achievements and focused on a brighter future. The Tunisian exhibit, to be prepared jointly by the various departments and bodies concerned, will be offering to the visitors the image of a diversified Tunisia, thanks to a rich and varied history, an enticing global and cultural heritage and the mesmerizing beauty of its unique and original sites. We hope that the participation of Tunisia at the Shanghai Expo will be a good opportunity for the Tunisians to delete the sad memories they have kept from their bad visit to the Tunisian pavilion during the 1992 Expo in Seville.
So far, 183 countries have confirmed their participation in “Shanghai 2010” Universal expo. Tunisia has always endeavored to attend big international events with a view to keeping abreast of all global cultural developments and being among developed countries.
In this context, Tunisia took part in the fourth preparatory meeting of the “Shanghai 2010” Universal Expo, held on September 23-24, 2009, in Shanghai, China.
China will be hosting, from May 1st to October 31st, 2010, the Universal Expo under the topic of : “A better life, a better city”. The Tunisian participation will be marked by the slogan “Hosting City, Connected City”.
About 240 countries and international and regional organizations participated in this meeting to take stock of the situation and assess the state of progress concerning the material and logistic preparations required by this event.
This meeting was attended by the senior Chinese executives entrusted with the organisation of the event, along with the Chairman of the International Exhibits Bureau, the representatives of the participating countries and a large number of Chinese and foreign media correspondents.
During this official ceremony, the participants signed a document whereby they recognize that they have been delivered their respective national stands.
The Tunisian general commissioner took this opportunity to confer with Mr Hua Junduo, General Commissioner of the 2010 Expo. It is worth noting, here, that the Chinese executive emphasized the role played by Tunisia, at the regional level, to support the efforts deployed by China to host the global event. Tunisia has confirmed its participation at this expo as early upon the announcement of this event in the city of Shanghai.
70 million visitors are expected to visit the “Shanghai 2010” International Expo. According to the official site of this event, 243 participants are expected to take part in this global event.
