TUNIS, March 22, 2010 (TAP) - Relations between Tunisia and China and prospects for developing them were the focus of the meeting which Foreign Affairs Minister Kamel Morjane had, on Monday afternoon, with Deputy Chairman of China People’s National Assembly Permanent Commission, Wang Zhaoguo who is on an official visit in Tunisia, on March 20-23.

Mr. Kamel Morjane pointed up, on the occasion, Tunisia’s will, under President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali’s leadership, to further bolster the Tunisian-Chinese co-operation process in the various fields, such as trade, investment, technology and human resources, and to diversify and widen areas of this co-operation in the service of the two friendly countries’ interest.

The meeting also turned on Tunisian-Chinese co-operation as part of the Arab-Chinese Co-operation Forum which is to hold its next session in China.

The Tunisian gastronomy festival was inaugurated, on June 11th, under the aegis of the Tunisian embassy and the Tunisian Tourism Board in China. The event was held at the A Fun ti of Beijing, a restaurant specialized in ouïgoure Xinjiang cuisine.

An official ceremony was held at the esplanade of the great people’s palace, in Beijing, during which President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali was received by his Chinese counterpart, M. Yang Shangkun.
