Trade and Handicrafts Minister Ridha Ben Mosbah, heading an official delegation, chaired, on Sunday 19 octobr, the celebration ceremony of Tunisia's Day held on the fringes of 2010 Shanghai Universal Exhibition.

On the occasion, the minister stressed that Tunisia's participation, under the motto of "Welcoming City, Connected City," testifies to the Head of State's interest in the principles of openness and dialogue of civilisations, in addition to the country's will to reinforce its radiance on the international stage.

The minister also reminded of the Head of State's initiative to establish a World Solidarity Fund. Mr. Ben Mosbah also emphasised Tunisia's determination to preserve the environment and guarantee the foundations of a sustainable development by means of adopting developed legislative and institutional frameworks.

Additionally, the minister specified that what mattered was to guarantee the attributes of Tunisia's integration into the international system aiming at protecting natural resources and providing support to regional and international initiatives in this field.
While briefing the attendees on Tunisia's achievements in the information and communication technologies (ICTs) sector, the minister pointed out that the country's educational institutions and universities have access to the Internet, with a view to paving the ground for the construction of the information society, Tunisia's top priority.

He also reminded that the international community adopted the Head of State's initiative to proclaim 2010 International Year of Youth.
For his part, the deputy general-manager of the Expo 2010's co-ordination office emphasised Tunisian-Chinese co- operation and partnership. The Chinese official also stressed the success of Tunisia's stand in valorising the country's age-old history, as well as its civilisational heritage.
